The objective was to give them real time access to information on patient care, current standards of practice and potential alternatives to diagnosis on line.  Included was information by practice – cardiac, ophthalmology etc. to expedite down loading of information.

Initially hired as Regional Sales Manager, and then promoted to Corporate Headquarters to create and launch the Diagnostic Business Unit.  Company was then grossing $40 million in annual sales through distributors.

  • Created the Diagnostic Business Unit.  Developed umbrella packaging for product line.  Assisted in R&D, product design and testing.  Brought "user-friendly" concept to product design.  Created package insert, packaging design, names, color coding, positioning, pricing, advertising, promotion, and public relations.  Product was featured on "Good Morning America", and in the WALL STREET JOURNAL, and READERS DIGEST.
  •  Negotiated two international marketing agreements; one with Hoechst UK and the other with Hoechst Germany.
  • Increased market share to 50-75% of total market in each product category within one year.
  • Launched one new vaccine and four line extensions as product manager of biologicals.
  • Developed/conducted professional seminars on immunology in support of product sales.  In one seminar with twenty potential customers, eighteen ordered product from their distributor within two weeks

1973 - 1983

Sales Manager, Product Manager, R&D, Production, Quality Assurance
Sales $75 million

Started in the Quality Assurance Department, promoted to production supervisor and then into R&D.  Took over an open sales territory and within eighteen months was promoted to product manager. One year later was promoted to sales manager, responsible for territory sales and training of other salespersons.

  • Redesigned multiple Quality Assurance tests for the industry working with CDC in Atlanta.
  • Reduced Production Department cost by developing several manufacturing improvements.
  • Developed scale-up procedures for production from R&D pilot.
  • Doubled sales within 18 months in first sales territory
  • Introduced three new products as product manager. 
  • Increased profit margins on product line by reducing discount sales and increasing market share.
  • As sales manager, achieved a four fold increase in territory sales and trained territory salespersons within district.
